Andrea Donnelly Studio: Artist Update

One of our all-time favorite friends, textile artist Andrea Donnelly, has been on a roll recently, and we are thrilled to see her work recognized and celebrated.

We first collaborated with Andrea back in 2015 to develop a unified brand and story encompassing both her commercial, wearable products, and her fine art pieces.

The rebranded Andrea Donnelly Studio has since seen coverage in publications such as Garden & Gun, Virginia Living, and Martha Stewart Living.

She has also been featured at venues like the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian Craft Show.

Andrea is one of a diverse group of artists currently on display in the inaugural exhibition of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA). Titled Declaration, the exhibition will run through September 9, 2018, and highlights the power of art to drive social transformation.

Andrea’s featured work in this exhibition, To the Various Futures (Not to All), incorporates text from “The Garden of Forking Paths,” a Jorge Luis Borges short story that was also a source of inspiration for ICA architect Steven Holl. We are so excited to see Andrea included in this important addition to the Richmond art scene.

This weekend: Saturday, July 28 – If you’re in the area and haven’t had a chance yet to see her work in person, check out Topic Tour: Threads, at the ICA. Andrea will explore the use of fiber in various artworks in Declaration including her own work To the Various Futures (Not to All).
